What is Web Accessibility?

Web Accessibility

Web accessibility (a11y) ensures websites work for everyone, including people with disabilities. The WCAG guidelines provide four principles: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust (POUR).

Example
<!-- Accessibility checklist basics:
1. Images have meaningful alt text
2. Headings follow logical order (h1 > h2 > h3)
3. Form inputs have associated labels
4. Color contrast ratio >= 4.5:1 for normal text
5. Interactive elements are keyboard-navigable
6. ARIA roles used where HTML semantics are insufficient -->

<!-- Check with: axe DevTools, WAVE, or Lighthouse -->
Pro Tip

Run your page through Lighthouse Accessibility audit — it catches the most common issues.
